FERNANDO TORRES has vowed to respect Liverpool's fuming fans by NOT celebrating if he scores against his old club on Sunday.

Chelsea's £50million record signing was unveiled by Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti today.

He faced questions about his decision to quit Anfield on transfer deadline day, which left angry supporters on Merseyside burning replica shirts bearing his name. n a twist of fate, Torres is set to make his Stamford Bridge bow against Liverpool this weekend.

The Spanish striker has scored on both his debuts in his career so far — at Atletico Madrid and for the Reds.

But he said: "First I have to play and then I have to score, but I have big respect for Liverpool fans so I don't think I will celebrate.

"I only have good things to say about Liverpool people. They made me feel really good there for 3½ fantastic seasons.

"I understand they will be angry and will not understand my decision. Maybe in a few days or weeks I will explain all the reasons.

"When I was an Atletico Madrid fan growing up I couldn't understand it when a big player left.

"I'm not asking them to understand me but I'm sure over time they will see what I did there.

"Football is like this. From one day to the other people can love you or hate you."

Asked if he considered pulling out of Sunday's match, Torres added: "Why? I'm a Chelsea player.

"I'm fit and if the manager wants me to play I will. I don't have a problem with that."

Torres revealed it was his desire to win trophies that was behind his decision to leave Liverpool.

He said: "Things had changed a lot there in the last year.

"I think they have great ambition and they are doing the right things to get back but it will take time. I didn't have that time."

Ancelotti claims he has not yet decided if Torres will start on Sunday.

The Italian said: "Fernando is in good condition and is fit. He has no problem and trained very well.

"He is available to play against Liverpool obviously. I don't know if he will start or maybe come on during the game.

"It is my decision and I will take the decision before 4pm on Sunday."

Former AC Milan manager Ancelotti admits he may have to shuffle his side to fit Torres into his line-up.

He added: "Fernando is not a winger, he is a striker and we have to find the right shape to put him and the other players to play together.

"I never had a problem to put together players with quality.

"We have to try to use the training sessions to improve our combination up front but I don't think this is a problem.

"Playing in a team with the other players the most important thing is to use his ability and quality for the team.

"These are our expectations, he is an unselfish player and doesn't have a problem to play for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Torres has been called up by Spain to face Colombia in Madrid next Wednesday.

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina and Manchester City's David Silva are the only other English-based players in the squad.
